6 ICE BATH DO'S & DON'TS - Things to consider when taking an Ice Bath

If you're a first time ice bath user or a Wim Hof Method seasoned pro, you've got to come prepared.

Some things to consider when taking the cold plunge -

DO - PREPARE

It's cold - and you need to prepare yourself for that.

Start by taking some deep breaths and allow yourself to mentally prepare.

DON'T - OVERDO IT

There's no prizes for how much ice you use.

If it's your first time, ease yourself in to it by using a small amount of ice. The great thing about the Icebolt is you can control how cold you want it to be, so you can gradually work up to more.

DO - CONSIDER TIMING

The best time to take an ice bath depends on your intention behind taking one.

For mental health, we recommend first thing in the morning. For post-workout recovery, jump in not long after exercise.

For muscle repair when you're looking to grow, wait at least a few hours.

DON'T - ASSUME

Don't assume that the colder it is, the better - or the longer you stay in, the more beneficial.

This is not the case. For optimum impact, 8-10 degrees Celsius for 5-10 minutes.

DO - ENJOY IT

Like anything, you've got to find enjoyment in it to make it a part of your routine.

We're pretty confident that you'll soon become addicted to the feeling of completing an ice bath, so this part should come easy.

DON'T - ADD PRESSURE

You wouldn't expect to see results after going to the gym once, so don't expect an ice bath to change your health and life right away.

The benefits we talk about are real and so worth it for your body and your mental health. Stick at it and see!
